He's in need of distraction. Inej has gone to open the club and Nina is off doing something, and, honestly, he doesn't have many other people. Still, he and Matthias have come a long way, since that first day in the Crow Club, since Kaz had kicked him when he wouldn't stay down. Matthias hardly ever calls him a Demjin anymore.

So Kaz pulls out his phone and he texts him, offers games and beer, dinner if he wants it.

It's definitely better than nothing.

Matthias doesn't have any plans that night, and he agrees to come over. If he isn't spending time with Dutch or Marcus he lives a mostly solitary life with Trass in the woods, so company is not unwanted.

Plus, he isn't so foolish as to pass up food.

He doesn't have much in offering to bring with him except an entire ham he'd been keeping in his freezer, so he shows up at Kaz's apartment, ham in hand, and buzzes up to be let in.

When Matthias makes it up to the top floor, Kaz opens the door, sleeves pushed up, gloves discarded (but still within easy reach). He's refusing to cook for tonight, so he's ordered out instead, stuff that he and INej have had before, things that he's liked. He raises one eyebrow, taking in Matthias' massive frame, and what he's carrying with him.

"Is that a ham?"

Matthias smiles broadly.

"A gift for your household," he says, holding out the ham for Kaz to take and then stepping inside. Ham is not his favorite, but he does enjoy bacon and thought he would be able to make at least a weeks' worth of bacon strips from it.

It had turned out that wasn't how bacon was made.

"Well, thank you," says Kaz, and takes it, somewhat dubiously. He takes the ham and puts it in the fridge and then turns back to Matthias. "Drink? We've got...beer, gin, vodka. Non-alcoholic things, probably. I can make coffee."
